At The Physio Co, we’re all about getting Aussie seniors to move more, with confidence.
Of course, becoming stronger as we age, being able to move more freely and without pain, helps get us back to doing the things we love. Just because we’re in the seventh, eighth – or even ninth! – decade of our life doesn’t mean we can’t still get out and about and do the things that bring us joy.
A key part of all this is to stay living independently at home for as long as possible. Living independently gives us the confidence and motivation to stay active and keep in touch with family, friends and our community.
Case in point:
TPC client, Margaret, is 95 and has been living in the same home for almost 60 years. She loves nothing more than sitting in her lounge room overlooking Mount Dandenong, and enjoying a good book while basking in the morning sun.
Until last year, Margaret had been living very independently, but a fall resulted in a fractured rib and lots of bed rest for a few weeks.
This took a toll on Margaret physically, and her daughters contacted The Physio Co to help get her going again. Â
Initially, Margaret was reluctant to engage in regular exercises throughout the week and so we searched for different ways to get her motivated. With the support of her daughters and weekly physio sessions, her strength and balance have slowly improved.
Today, Margaret is keen to complete her daily exercises and loves to keep them challenging, often asking ‘What’s next?’.
She is much more confident moving around her home and when she goes out for appointments or meals.
Perhaps most importantly, Margaret’s outlook on life has become more positive and enjoyable.
Congratulations Margaret for working hard with your physio and maintaining your independence!
If you think we can help you (or your elderly Mum or your Dad) get back to doing something they love, please contact our customer care team to find out how we can work together.
